Description

Day 1       Cape Town / Route 62 / Oudtshoorn       .

Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be met by a PLATINUM Travel representative and transfer to your hotel. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure.Overnight 3 or 4 star Hotel.


Day 2       Cape Town / Clanwilliam / Langebaan       (Breakfast).

Morning departure from Cape Town, travelling northbound along the Cape West Coast region – an almost undiscovered treasure trove of un spoilt beaches, incredible mountain ranges, rich geographical diversity, and the most astonishing carpet of wild flowers in Spring. Drive past villages such as Citrusdal which is synonymous with its superior citrus fruits and products, and Clanwilliam, one of the ten oldest towns in South Africa and also renowned as being the only place where rooibos is planted and cultivated and famous for its locally made leather shoes. Here you would visit the Rooibos Factory, the only active production plant. After this fascinating visit, an opportunity would be made to enjoy lunch (to own account) before heading to Elandsberg Eco Tourism farm. Here you would embark on a Rooibos safari through the rooibos plantations and the processing plant. Continue to the coastal hamlet of Langebaan via the coastal route. Overnight at Luxury hotel.


Day 3       West Coast       (Breakfast).

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading to Paternoster. Paternoster, meaning “Our Father” derives its name from the prayers of ship-wrecked Portuguese sailors. Visit the Cape Columbine Lighthouse which was the last manned lighthouse constructed, and it’s found on a coastline within the Columbine Nature Reserve. The spiral staircase within the lighthouse takes one high enough for incredible views out over the Britannia reef and the Atlantic. Cape Columbine stands on a massive outcrop of rock known as Castle Rock from where you could possibly view dolphins and whales (during season). Browse around the town of Paternoster, drinking in the nostalgic atmosphere of this old fishing village before heading to West Coast Fossil Park. For another amazing tour.. Return to Langebaan for a relaxed afternoon at leisure. During the months of August and September a visit to the Postberg Section of the West Coast National Park would be included to view the colourful flowers . The park also offers opportunity for the more active guest to enjoy mountain biking, horse-riding or to follow the walking/nature trails (any additional charges to own account). Alternatively, one could simply enjoy the beaches along the Langebaan Lagoon. Overnight Luxury Guest house.


Day 4       Langebaan / Darling / Franschhoek      (Breakfast)

After breakfast we make our way to the Khwa ttu San Culture & Education Centre which offers the unique experience of being introduced to the world of the descendants of the first indigenous people of Western Cape. The San themselves will take you on a journey into their history, traditional knowledge, skills, languages, customs and current affairs. This enjoyable and eye-opening event will stay with you forever. Continue to Groote Post Cellar for a wine tasting before heading to Bloubergstrand for lunch (to own account) and the opportunity to capture a picture postcard image of Table Mountain with the city, the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and the Cape Town Stadium visible from across the bay on a clear day. Travel to the Cape Wine region of Franschhoek where you would spend the following two nights. Overnight at Luxury hotel.

Day 5       Franschhoek      (Breakfast)

Breakfast is followed by a unique and leisurely way to see the Franschhoek Valley as you journey through rolling vineyards in an stopping in at some of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates. Start the experience with a visit to the Huguenot Memorial, then on to Haute Cabriere, Chamonix, le petit ferm and ending the experience at Grande Provence. Lunch (to own account) could be taken at any of these estates. This evening includes dinner at the hotel. Overnight Le Franschhoek Hotel & Spa (standard room) or similar

Day 6       Cape Winelands / Cape Town      (Breakfast, Dinner)

Breakfast and check-out, Depart Franschhoek and travel over the Helshoogte Pass to Stellenbosch. En route, stop at Wine Estate for a tasting before spending some time in the ‘dorp’(town) of Stellenbosch with its characteristic Cape Dutch buildings and historic landmarks such as ‘Oom Samie se Winkel’. Continue for a second tasting for the day before heading to Paarl. Stop at the Taal Monument and Laborie Wine Estate before heading back to Cape Town. Overnight at Luxury Hotel.

Day 7       Cape Town      (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 8       Cape Point & Peninsula      (Breakfast, Dinner)

This morning you will be collected for private full day Cape Point & Peninsula Tour. We travel along the Atlantic Seaboard via Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay, stopping at a Llandudno look-out point before continuing to Hout Bay, a quaint village and fishing harbour with magnificent mountain views and beach (optional boat trip to Seal Island – to own account). Continue via Chapman’s Peak , one of the world’s most spectacular coastal drives, to Cape Point and the Good Hope Nature Reserve. After lunch at a nearby restaurant (not included in cost), we go on to historic Simon’s Town – a village with charming Victorian architecture, a naval base and a large penguin colony at the beautiful Boulders Beach. Boulders Penguin Colony is home to a growing colony of the vulnerable African Penguin. Here visitors get opportunity to view the penguins in their natural habitat . End the day with a visit to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens which is world-renowned for the beauty and diversity of the Cape Flora it displays and for the magnificence of its setting against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain. The tour ends upon return to your hotel during the late afternoon. Dinner to own arrangements. Overnight at Luxury hotel.

Day 9       Robben Island & City Tour      (Breakfast)

After breakfast, you will be collected for your scheduled Robben Island & City Tour. , this option is a geographical and cultural extravaganza. The tour commences with a ferry trip across the bay to Robben Island. (weather permitting). From the 17th to the 20th centuries, Robben Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder to the newly democratic South Africa and of the price paid for freedom. In the city itself enjoy a drive through Bo-Kaap to discover how the Malay slaves influenced the culture, food and aesthetics of this beautiful city and its people. Continue to Table Mountain where you shall reach the top by cable car (weather permitting; cable car fee not included). Enjoy the panoramic views over the city with Robben Island lying sleepily in Table Bay. . Return to the city bowl area to the Company Gardens. Enjoy a walk through the garden and a visit to the SA Museum. This is followed by a visit to the Castle of Good Hope. Built between 1666 and 1679 by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) as a maritime replenishment station, the Castle of Good Hope is the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa. The drive through the city centre would also take you past the Houses of Parliament, the Grand Parade and City Hall from where Nelson Mandela first addressed South Africans after his release in February 1990. Day 10       Cape Town / Overberg / Swellendam      (Breakfast, Dinner)

Breakfast and check-out, Depart Franschhoek and travel over the Helshoogte Pass to Stellenbosch. Day 11       Swellendam / Mossel Bay / Plettenberg Bay      (Breakfast, Dinner)

After a leisurely breakfast, depart Swellendam and enjoy your journey along the Garden Route via Mossel Bay. Travel to Plettenberg Bay – millionaires’ playground for lunch and a stroll along the white sandy beaches. Check into your accommodation . Dinner is enjoyed at the lodge or town. Overnight Hog Hollow Country Lodge.

Day 12       Swellendam / Mossel Bay / Plettenberg Bay      (Breakfast, Dinner)

After breakfast, get up-close-and-personal with nature at the Elephant Sanctuary. The visit presents you with the opportunity to touch, feed and photograph these gentle giants. After lunch (to own account), travel to theTsitsikamma National Park. Described as the ‘garden of the Garden Route’, the Tsitsikamma actually deserves a more vivid description to bring out the beauty of the place. Enjoy a walk along the suspension bridge across the Storms River mouth gorge which offers visitors incredible views and photo opportunities. Spend some time at leisure in the town of Plettenberg Bay – ‘millionaires’ playground’ – before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Overnight Hog Hollow Country Lodge.

Day 13       Plettenberg Bay / Knysna / Oudtshoorn      (Breakfast,lunch, Dinner)

Morning departure from Plettenberg Bay to the lagoon-side town of Knysna – gem of the Garden Route. Embark on an excursion to the Featherbed Nature Reserve which is located on the western Knysna Head. The trip includes a ferry across the lagoon to the base of the western head, a drive to the top of the reserve and an optional 2.2 kilometre downhill nature trail walk. The tour ends with a delicious lunch served under the shade of the milkwood trees. On return to the mainland, continue your journey to Oudtshoorn. Visit an ostrich show farm for a guided tour. Check into your overnight accommodation.Dinner at the hotel

Day 14       Oudtshoorn / Route 62 / Cape Town       (Breakfast)

Before departing Oudtshoorn enjoy a morning visit to the Cango Caves – one of the natural wonders of the world and which has become a major draw-card to the Karoo area. Travel along the famous Route 62 to Cape Town. The ever changing colours of the majestic mountains, scenic passes, rivers, vineyards and orchards offer you an unforgettable experience. Stop at the Country Pumpkin Restaurant near Barrydale for lunch (to own account). After lunch (to own account), enjoy a slow drive to Cape Town. Overnight Luxury hotel.

Day 15       Departure      ( Breakfast)

Breakfast and check-out of the hotel. Today you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your onward flight arrangements, and we say goodbye with a SMILE!
